Mr. Charlie Lee McGill Wallace, 79 of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Novant Health Presbyterian.

Mr. Charlie L. Wallace was born January 10, 1944 to the late Jennie M. Patrick and Tom McGill. He departed this life on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Charlie was educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg School system where he excelled in sports. He joined O'Zion A.M.E. Zion Church at a young age. Charlie was employed in the transportation field until he retired. He was among the first group of black men hired by the Charlotte Transit Bus System.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, seven sisters and his mother-and father-in-law.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Lois Wallace; one son, Charlie Wallace, Jr. (Angela); two daughters, Delora Wallace and Cassandra Lockett (Anthony); six sisters, Ruthie Patrick, Martha A. Jones, Emma Patrick-Bell (Miller), Alberta Patrick-Ross (Robert), Edith Herron (George) and Naomi Ferguson; four brothers, John Patrick (Vernie), John Wallace (Jennie), Walter Wallace (Peggy) and Herb Wallace (Ellen); three sisters-in-law, Lilly Cloud (Robert), Phyllis Springs and Fayette Grier; two brothers-in-law, Timothy Grier (Ella) and Zenus Grier (Catherine); two aunts, Beverly and Betty; nine grandchildren, Tadarrin Wallace (Debbie), Akilah Wallace, Shanna McCarthy (Chris), Genis Pegues, Charlie Holiday (Zamere), Dontrez Wallace, LaKeisha Wright, Lemar Wright and Johnathan Bulls; four great-grandchildren, Ashton, Talaysia, Tadarrin, Jr., and ZaKaria; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
