Mr. Charlie "Charles" William Sturdivant, 76, of Charlotte NC departed this life on Friday, December 22, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Charles William Sturdivant, affectionately called "PeeWee," was the son of the late Charles Rucker and Minnie Lee Sturdivant. He was born February 18, 1947, in Swedesboro, New Jersey. He later moved to Wadesboro, North Carolina.
Charles was educated in Anson County, graduating from West Deep Creek High School with the Class of 1965 and attended Davis Community College in Lexington, NC. He then went on to serve in the United States Army.
He was a truck driver for Vanply, Inc. for several years and was a courier for United Parcel Service for over 30 years, where he retired in 2005.
Charles attended New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and was a faithful and dedicated deacon. Outside of work, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, working in his yard, traveling and helping others. His affectionate heartwarming smile was the first thing that you saw upon meeting him.
Mr. Sturdivant entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 22, 2023, at his residence with loved ones by his side. He was 76. He was preceded in death by three siblings – sisters, Doris Gaddy and Louise Gwynn and brother, Joe Sturdivant.
Mr. Sturdivant is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Sturdivant of the home; his children, Carrie Scott (Edward Scott, Jr.) of High Point, NC, Aaron Sturdivant (Shawn) of Charlotte, NC, Anthony Sellars of Concord, NC, Charles Sturdivant, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Roslyn Stitt of Monroe, NC, Donna Pridgen of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Sherrill of Mooresville, NC, Angelina Bynum of Denver, NC, Latonia Bynum of Zachary, Louisiana and Teresa Bynum of Charlotte, NC; thirty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Mary Wright of Wadesboro, NC, Ruth Parsons of High Point, NC, Brenda Horne of Wadesboro, NC, Charlie Little, Jr. and James Gaddy of Wadesboro, NC; special cousin, Mary Helen Parker of Wadesboro, NC; sister-in-law, Lorraine Sturdivant. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
