Clara attended New Providence Baptist Church, Mount Holly for many years where she delivered the children's message and served on the building committee.  She also was President of the Pastors Aid Organization (1998) at New Providence Baptist Church.  She attended Reid High in Belmont, NC and she worked for Burlington Industries, Southern National Bank as Manager of Operations, Cato Cooperation and Belk Incorporated.  She inherited her strong work ethics from her parents.  She was a member of the Las Amigas.  Clara enjoyed working and helping others.  Clara loved reading and studying her Bible.  This was evident in her keen biblical knowledge.  She enjoyed discussing the scriptures with others. If you asked Clara what she prayed for, she would say that she prayed for discernment and wisdom like Solomon.  You can often hear Clara quote "Absent from the body, present with the Lord".  She is in his presence now.  Nanee loved her family, especially her husband James.  They were happily married for 54 years.  Clara cherished her four children and was proud of each of their accomplishments.  She especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They often brought her joy and laughter.
