Clara Yvonne McMullen Steele was the third child born to James and Mary McMullen on February 5, 1952 and moved to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 14, 2023. She truly loved her mother Mary McMullen. Her parents preceded her in death.
Being in the middle of a family of all girls she was the link that kept the family entertained. She was the one that made you laugh at things no one would ever dream of with her sarcasm. You knew she was going to give all the children a funny nick name that would follow them for the rest of their lives. They also were the recipient of those funny nicknames for life. She was very proud of all of their accomplishment in her lifetime.
Clara never met a stranger. She welcomed the young, the old and the sick into her home. She loved all of her children and family with a passion. She was always the "Go to Aunt." She was the mother, confidant and friend for all who met her. She entertained her love one as well as strangers in her home and in her heart. Every holiday was special and she always made it even more special for everyone when you came to visit her home. There was always laughter, good food and a place to be yourself at Clara's house. She loved flowers and gardening. There was always something growing and blooming in her yard or in her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children; Jacqueline Steele-Simmons, Sandra Steele-Lavia, Patrick A. Steele and Kevin F. Steele, nine grand-children; Brian Simmons (Megan), Brittany Simmons-Kenkwo (Innocent), Brandon Steele, Kesli Lavia, Jordan Kone, James and Mary Kone (Twins), Yasmine Richardson and Aylisa Steele and 14 great grandchildren. Two precedes her in death. Sisters: Hattie Watkins, Elizabeth McCullough, Janice McMullen and Cheryl Ware (Stanley). Niece: Teresa Covington, Vanessa Hart, Melissa Hill, Ebony Bell, Tamara McCullough, Nora McMullen, Hannah Ware and Jasmine Deas. Nephews: Earnest McCullough, Jr., and Ethan Ware. A host of great nieces and nephews, special god-son Daraja Williams and very special friend Karine Irby.
