Ms. Clarice Davis, 85 of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main. She was born to the late Wiley and Lula Davis on November 15, 1933 in Mt. Holly, NC. She was educated in the Gaston County School System and graduated from Reid High School.
Upon graduating, Clarice moved to Pottsville, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia. A year later she moved to New York City where she was a long-time and decorated employee with Plymouth Department Stores.
While living in New York City, Clarice loved attending plays on Broadway and entertainment events at the famous Apollo Theater. She maintained a scrapbook of the programs and tickets of the many famous plays she attended such as "A Raisin in The Sun," and "The Emperor Jones"; as well as, autographs of the many celebrities she met such as Duke Ellington, James Brown, Geoffrey Holder and Leontyne Price
Clarice would later return to North Carolina, where she would make her residence in Charlotte. She was employed by Embassy Suites Hotel and would later retire.
Clarice loved to read, sew and knit, but most of all she loved entertaining family and friends. Clarice was affectionately known as "Aunt Reedy", as she was an amazing caregiver, nurturer and friend to her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was the last surviving child of Wylie and Lula Davis and leaves a great legacy of family pride and memories for a monumental generation. She will always be remembered for her never-ending kindness, family loyalty and staunch independence.
