Obituary

Clarissa Ada Bush McClure was born April 5, 1922, in Saluda, South Carolina to parents Jim and Leona Bush. Clarissa became a member of the Salem A.M.E. Zion Church at a very early age. As a dedicated member, Clarissa represented her church as a delegate at local and national conventions. Clarissa also loved to sing, especially with her sisters, they sang together in a group called "The Bush Sisters."

Clarissa later moved to Washington, D.C. and finished her education in Early Childhood and became a member of Miles A.M.E. Zion Church. As a faithful member of Miles A.M.E. Zion Church she worked diligently as an usher and sang with the Gospel Chorus.

Clarissa met Robert Frank McClure and they wed on July 4, 1960. After living in Washington, D.C. for nineteen years, they  moved to New Jersey became members of Morningside Baptist Church. Here she sang on the choir and served as a member of the Willing Workers while at Community Baptist Church. She was employed at St. Josephs Hospital as a cafeteria supervisor in the preparation of food.

Robert and Clarissa moved to Charlotte, North Carolina after living in New Jersey for fourteen years. They became members of Macedonia Baptist Church. At Macedonia, Clarissa served as Vice-President of the Senior Choir, a member of the Mother's Board, the Missionary Circle\, and was one of the first to join the Mass Choir.

Clarissa departed this earthly life at the age of 100 on Friday, March 10, 2023. Clarissa is survived by her nieces; Sandra Moore, Mary Fair, Clarissa Ada Bush, and Barbara Ann Danzy; nephews James Bush and Jimmie Lee Bush; loving cousin Monica Hayman and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

Clarissa was proceeded in death by her parents Jim and Leona Bush; husband, Robert McClure; siblings John Lee Bush, Anna May Bush Lott, Luella Hill Gantt, and Evelyn Burton.
