Obituary

Connie Watt Redice, 92, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at her residence.

Connie Watt Redice, daughter of the late Samuel and Cleola Watt,
was born August 27, 1933. She attended the Mount Olive Elementary School through the 4th grade and later attended Plato Price High School, where she graduated in 1952.

She married John D. Redice, and to this union two children were born: Deborah and Michael Redice. She was also blessed with three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Connie was a devoted member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church. She faithfully served as Secretary of the Sunday School, Superintendent and teacher for the Youth and Adult Class #2. She was an elder, and a member of the Gospel Choir, Mass Choir, and Senior Choir. She served as Moderator of the Presbyterian Women at Mount Olive Church and was a lifetime member of Presbyterian Women USA. She was also known as a Prayer Warrior and a member of the Praise and Worship Team. Connie served on the Committee of Ministry for four years in the Charlotte Presbytery. She was a member of Deborah Chapter #424 OES and was a past matron of the Administrative Council Jurisdiction of North Carolina.

She graduated from Central Piedmont Community College with an Associate Degree in Education and studied American Sign Language for two years at Central Piedmont. Connie worked as a school crossing guard for the Charlotte Police Department and was employed for eight years at the Federal Reserve Bank in Charlotte. She volunteered for the Gethsemane Enrichment Program for three years. She also studied Christian Education at Johnson C. Smith, A.Q. Steele Bible Class, where she received a certificate for her coursework in Religious Education.

Her love for children guided much of her life's work. She served as lead childcare teacher to 3–5 year olds. She also sang and taught at the Bryant Center Nursing Home and participated in the Senior Nutrition Program at the West Charlotte Center until her health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Redice; her daughter, Deborah Redice; three brothers, Henry Watt, Lester Watt, and Leo Watt; and four sisters, Emma Potts,
Hattie Pettis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Blanche Phifer.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Michael Redice; her grandchildren: LaKiesha Coffey (Reginald), Linda Redice, and Eddie Redice; her great-grandchildren: Kiara Redice, Derrick Redice, CaMari Simpson, Kaydence Redice, Eddie Redice Jr.; her great-great-grandchildren: Raelynn Redice, Jaiden Redice and Kumasi Simpson; her siblings: Annie McCullough, James Watt (LaFreda), and Clarence Watt; her sister-in-law: Maxine Watt.

Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved her dearly.
