Ms. Cora Denise Brewer, 59, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at McWhorter House.

August 27, 1965 – June 19, 2025

The family of Cora Denise Brewer is deeply saddened to announce her passing on June 19, 2025, at the age of 59, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Affectionately known as "Tiny" by her family, Denise was born on August 27, 1965, in West Helena, Arkansas, to Annie B. Lee (aka Williams, Brewer) and Sid Brewer. She was a proud 1983 graduate of Central High School and went on to earn a baccalaureate degree in Journalism from the University of Iowa.

After college, Denise fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams by working in print journalism in New York City. Her career was rich and varied—spanning roles in legal research, technical writing, and bilingual IT support for international clients. Most recently, she served as a fraud investigator at Wells Fargo Bank.

A creative soul, Denise was a gifted writer of poetry and short stories throughout her adult life. She studied voice for many years and found great joy in attending theatrical performances, often immersing herself in the arts.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronnie Alfonso Williams. She is lovingly remembered by her six sisters: Ernestine Simpson (Williams), Hiawatha Evans (Williams), Earie Seals (Alvin) (Williams), Gloria Williams, Sina Moses (Williams), and Jacqueline Brewer; and six brothers: Robert Williams (Kay), Foster Williams Sr., Cornelius Williams, Wesley Williams (Lorraine), Rodney Williams (Deborah), and Sidney Brewer. She also leaves behind a large and cherished extended family of nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank her friend Marsha Kelly and other church friends mourning her passing. At the time of her passing, Denise was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte.

The family will honor her memory privately.
