Cordelia Gatheright Spencer, affectionately known as My My, Ms. Spencer, Ms. Dill, and Dilly V, was born on June 5, 1927, in Rockingham County, NC. On February 7, 2024, she peacefully transitioned from this world into the loving arms of our Savior. Cordelia was a remarkable woman who found joy in being a caregiver, particularly excelling in her role as the heart and soul of a successful home daycare. Families and children alike cherished her, considering her a grandmother figure. As a mother, Cordelia would often say, "I did the best that I could for all of you," leaving a lasting impact on those she loved and cared for. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Chessie Gatheright, her husband George L. Spencer, her sons George L. Spencer Jr and Curtis E. Spencer Sr. and her nephew George Gatheright; Grandsons Isaac Hill and Curtis E Spencer Jr. She is also preceded by her brothers James, Paul, Jessie, Ralph, Kenneth, and George Gatheright; as well as sister's Nancy Ree Allen and Chessie L. Gatheright. Cordelia leaves to mourn her passing her daughters Mona Spencer, Mary Spencer Evans (Don), Nezzie Spencer Wilkinson (Charley Jr.), and Dorothy Spencer Williams; Daughter-In Law, Vivian Littlejohn Spencer (Curtis Sr.) She is also survived by her grandchildren Brian Carr (Nikki), LaChandra Spencer Washington (Charles), Fiona Carr Gatson, Spencer Wilkinson, Natalie Jennings, Jacque Jordan, Charley Wilkinson III (Dee), Clifton Dion Jordan (Erica), Lee Justin Jordan (Deandra), Leslie Jordan (Fred) ; Nieces and Nephews; Joseph E. Allen (Opal), Nancy Ree Allen, Chessie Gatheright Santos, Ralph Gatheright, Norris Gatheright, Patrick Gatheright, Cardelia Gatheright, Montrose Bushrod Spencer, Delvra McFadden Hightower; as well as 21 greatgrandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; Very special family and friends Claude ("Tony") and Debra Allen, Ollie Gatheright, Jennifer Gwynn, Harold Richardson, Nancy Stroud, Betty Wilkins, Shirley Sweet and Sheila Smith as well as a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. A woman of strength, compassion, and unwavering love, Cordelia Gatheright Spencer will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared during her time on Earth.
