Obituary

Corine Miller Staton, 78 of Indian Trail, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at her residence. She was born September 16, 1941 to the late Sarah and Anderson Miller in Rice, Virginia. She was also educated in the Prince Edward County School System.  She moved to New Jersey in the early 1960's, where she met the love of her life Albert Staton and they later married in holy matrimony.

As the years passed, she became a licensed child care provider through 4C's.  She owned and operated an in-home child care center where she provided exceptional care for children for over 15 years.

Corine found the Lord at an early age and was baptized.  She received the gift of the Holy Spirit and joined the Greater Bethel Church, under the leadership of Bishop Herbert F. Frazier in the 1970's.  She served as the President of the Pastor's Aid, and was a member of the chorus, senior and combined choirs.  She faithfully attended Sunday school, Morning Service, Missionary, and Night Service.  Her commitment and love for God led her to take pride in her church.  She also loved to cook and enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for her family.  Occasionally, she cooked dinners for her church and was known for her famous potato salad.

She was a very loving person, kindhearted, and would give her last.

In 2009, Corine relocated to North Carolina, at which time her health began to decline.  However, she remained resilient and fought a good fight until the end.

Corine was preceded in death by her Grandson, Melvin Jackson; brother, Linwood Miller; Sisters, Anna Mae Grant and Mary Hamlin.

She leaves to cherish her memory; Husband, Albert Staton; Son, Paul Miller (Josey); Daughters, Felicia Staton and Sheila Pearson (Larry); Sisters, Frances Jackson, Sarah Lee Clark (Walter), Martha Davis, and Pearl Bailey (Herbert); Brother in-law, Edgar Staton; Sister-in-law, Levonia Witherspoon; 6 Grandchildren, Charnell Johnson, Tawuana Staton, Darrin Waller (Anna), Kiara Fungaling (Anthony), Alicia Perry, and Juwan Person; 7 Great Grandchildren; 1 God son, Keshon Walker; 2 God Daughters, Hercenia Ballard, Angela Joe and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
