IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cynthia
Phillips
July 22, 1954 – July 21, 2020
Cynthia Brown Phillips entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the age of 65.
Cynthia was born in Mullins, SC to the late Anne Brown on July 22, 1954, and raised by the late Dora Taylor. She attended Palmetto High School and graduated from Mullins High in 1972, where her classmates remembered her for her infectious smile and personality that could fill any room.
After graduation, Cynthia worked at Marvel Lamp and Russell Stover.
Cynthia and Pressley Phillips were joined in holy matrimony on September 23, 1977, after which they moved to Charlotte, NC, where the couple enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Although she resided in Charlotte, she was a self-proclaimed "South Carolina Peach" and never strayed from her Mullins roots.
As a result of Cynthia's generous spirit and bubbly personality, she never met a stranger, making her loved by all. She loved experiencing other cultures, through pictures, videos and exchanging letters with international pen pals from all ends of the globe. She had a passion for cooking and reading, and could be found weekly at the local libraries around town checking out the latest novels and cookbooks, while chatting up her librarian friends. Cynthia's green thumb was legendary and her life was as beautiful as the flowers and plants she loved so much.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her sister Mattie Platt- Childs, and brother Randolph Platt.
Her life will forever be cherished by those who loved her most: husband, Pressley Phillips, daughter Tia Phillips-Lyons (Carlos), son Anthony Phillips (Adrienne), niece Alexis Childs, sister-in-law Shirley Platt, and a multitude of special friends who will miss her dearly.
