Mr. David L. Cargo, 71 of Charlotte, departed this life on Friday, August 7, 2020.  His loving family surrounded him. He was born on June 5, 1949, to Harry and Minnie Cargo, Sr. in Savannah, Ga.  He grew up in Long Island City, NY.  David graduated from the Boys High School in Brooklyn, NY.  He served in the United States Airforce as an Aircraft Mechanic.  The majority of his adult life, he live in the state of New York. He retired from the American Red Cross in 2010.  He and his wife then relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2010.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Claretha of Charlotte, North Carolina; sons, Theodore Perry (Annaliese) of Syracuse, NY and David Cargo Jr., of Charlotte, NC, and Christopher Brooks (Angela) of Solvay, NY; daughters, Melissa Gandy (Ralph) and Shakira Davis (Byron), both of Charlotte, NC; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Cargo (Gloria) of Long Island, NY; two nephews, Dr. John Cargo (Lisa) of Martinsville, VA an Abyssinia Bandoh (Kylene) of Port Royal, GA; three nieces, Romona Cargo of Bronx, NY, Daakeia Cargo of Richmond, VA, and Vanessa Cargo of NY; four cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
