Ms. Dellis Mari Smith-Cassell, 58 of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 12, 2019 at her residence. She was known to many as "Nai Nai" was born April 17, 1961 in Mecklenburg County, NC.  Dellis was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Smith, Sr. and Lula Mae Smith, and her husband, Ronald Cassell.

Dellis graduated from West Charlotte High School.  She had several places of employment over the years; her last employment was with the City of Charlotte.

Dellis' favorite color was purple and she loved to plant flowers.  She loved to do "Seek & Find" and word puzzles.  She was known for making the best "Sweet Potato" pie and her infamous "Sweet Tea."  Dellis was always concerned about others and made it a priority to call and check on family and friends on a daily basis.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Jamar D. Cassell; mother, Helen Brown; "Special Mom's" - Luvenia Culp Smith and Sarah Davis; sisters, Dorothy S. Foust (Robert), Jeanette Simmons, Margie Gilliam, Vivian Williamson (Kevin), Mary Abell (William), Rose Belk (Rogers); brothers, John W. Smith, Jr. (Drucella), Adam Culp (Trina); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
