Delores profession was a Data Entry Clerk. He last job prior to retiring was with Bank of America. She was Phenomenal with typing and doing her job, her fingers were so fast. After Delores moved to Charlotte for a fresh new start she set out to learn more about the city and once she was stable in Charlotte, NC her 2 kids later joined her. Delores found a church home at Moores Sanctuary AME Zion that she loved and have been a member for over 30 years. In 1989 Delores husband Roy passed away.
Sometime in the mid to late 90's, she met a gentleman named Dalton George in Charlotte, NC he worked in the same business area as her and they became very close friends and enjoyed each other's company. And 30 years later he's been a part of her life and the family. He's been there for graduations, her kids marriages, babies being born and her children moving out into their own homes. Dalton has been mom's longtime companion, boyfriend/life partner and has helped her as much as he could during her last season of her life. They both cared and loved each other very much, they were also very funny together and when they weren't always "Seeing Eye to eye" it was kind of cute to witness.
Delores loved her family so much and always spoke of how important it is to keep the family together and that we all need each other even when we may disagree. She knew that we will not always agree on things or get along but to LOVE each other and try to be there for each other regardless. She loved her dear friends all of them. Delores loved her church and was an active member. She served in the Spiritual Links ministry, Senior Ministry, Hymn choir (even though Delores knew she did not have the gift of singing:) She almost talked herself out of singing on the choir until her family & friends encouraged her to sing her heart out, if that's what SHE wanted to do. Delores knew she was singing to the Lord and nobody else, so she joined the choir! She loved inviting others to come to church with her especially her family and friends! Delores joined another women's group in her living community called "Circle of Friends" a beautiful group of women and they would take trips together like bowling, going to see the Christmas Lights or going to dinner and many other fun outings together!
Delores had Faith and believed in God. She was a smart woman who took care of her business. She was funny, had a great sense of humor. She understood the concept of living within your means very well, she worked hard as a single mother for herself and children, she was very smart with managing her money, she enjoyed going to the beach, going to Savannah, GA to visit her family, going to Philadelphia whenever she could, Florida, she loved taking trips with her friends in her younger days, she's been on cruises and went to the Bahamas and since that trip to the Bahamas her brother Terry Gordon gave her the nick name "Bahama Mama" and she called him "Slim Jim" the two of them talked every Sunday (faithfully). She loved thrift shopping, she loved music and dancing (she stayed on the dance floor in her younger days), she loved parades and seeing the fireworks, she loved going to the movies, she loved simple ride in the car, and she loved her black coffee in her favorite mug and keeping her nails long, groomed and polished. She loved Family Feud with Steve Harvey and she watched it faithfully every night and also watching funny sitcom re-runs life Good Times, The Jefferson, Golden Girls, Living Single, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and so many others.
Mom loved ALL of her sisters and brother and had a special relationship with each of them. She loved her entire family, friends, church family and just people in general! In the words of an old Classic Philadelphia song Delores and her children loved called "Aint No Stopping us Now" we are on the move! It goes without saying that there is NO stopping us NOW, Delores Moffatt our Queen has passed the torch to everyone who knew her to let your light SHINE bright!!!!
