Mrs. Denise Angela Johnson, 72, of Gastonia, NC, departed this life on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at CaroMont Health Center, Gastonia NC.

Denise Williams Johnson, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

She was born February 2, 1952, to the late Otis Alfonso Williams and Hattie Cherry Williams.  Denise was a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School Class of 1970.  She also attended A&T State University in Greensboro, NC.  After college, she worked for many years in the insurance industry as an underwriter.

At an early age, Denise accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior.  She spent time with Him regularly through daily devotions and prayer.

Denise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and a friend to the end.  She loved to "dress to impress," decorate the house, bake impeccable desserts, and she could shop the day away with no money.  She was truly a joy to come in contact whether with a kind word of encouragement or knowledge giving conversation.  She will truly be missed.

In addition to her parents, Denise was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Leon Douglas Johnson.  She was also predeceased by her daughter, Angela Johnson and sister, Cassandra Hunter.

Denise is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Deon Johnson; grand-daughter, Taya Johnson; grandsons, Leon Johnson, Aaron Johnson, and Elijah Johnson Sturdivant; dear friends, Cynthia Horton (who was more like a sister) and daughter, Brandy Spinks (who was more like a niece); many sisters- and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
