Bro. Dennis J. Kennedy, 55 of Charlotte, departed this life on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Atrium Health - University.  His name was placed on the House of Prayer Roll at birth.  He born to the late, Henry James Kennedy, Sr. and Mae Sue Buckhalter Kennedy on August 16, 1966 in Charlotte, NC.

He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1985.  He drove a school bus while attending high school during his 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years.

He was the supervisor of the cafeteria at Novant Hospital Main until his health failed.  He loved working on his cars, having family gatherings and cooking for them.

He was a very thoughtful and caring person.  Strangers he never met.  He loved traveling with Grace's Soldier's.  From time to time he often made sure they had food to eat on their trip.

He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Kennedy Sr., and brothers, Ricky Kennedy and Sammy Buckhalter.

He leaves to mourn his lost; wife, Karen Kennedy; 3 daughters, Octavia Kennedy, Tasha Hood, and Krystal Simpson; 2 sons, Dennis Kennedy Jr., and Dominique Kennedy; mother, Mae Sue Kennedy; 2 brothers, Henry James Kennedy, Jr. (Valeria Kennedy) and Calvin Lee Kennedy; 2 sisters, Mary M. Jones and Melissa Sue Kennedy; 7 grandchildren, Chanyiah Kennedy, Cameron Kennedy, Navaeh Kennedy Parke, Dontrez Hood, Kristina McIntosh, Trevon Gentry, and Kaiden Grayson; 1 aunt, Doretha Peale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends , and other relatives.
