Derrick Devonte' Ingram, entered into eternal life at the age of 23 on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at his residence where he lived with his mother and father.
He was born November 8, 1996 in Charlotte, NC, to Philip and Ramona Ingram. As a young child, he developed a strong passion for music. He began writing songs and performing as early as elementary school. During his school-aged years, he played basketball. His hobbies were video games, shopping, eating out and spending time with his family. He attended Northridge Middle School, Cochran Middle School and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in June 2016. Following graduation, he attended Central Piedmont Community College. He worked in customer service and planned to start a career in aviation.
What Derrick will be remembered for most is his impeccable character. He was known for his lovable sense of humor, his kindness, and his humility. Even in adversity, he maintained a positive attitude that was contagious to those around him. He had a smile that was brighter than the sun, and a laugh that you could hear from a mile away. He was very affectionate to his mother and sister as he would greet them both with a hug and kiss even as a small child. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He will be missed for his unconditional love, and overall beautiful spirit. He was a one of a kind person with a calm demeanor. He especially enjoyed his "convos with Pops" as he lovingly referred to his regular conversations with his father. He looked up to his older brother as they would joke and laugh at one another, as brothers are known to do. He embraced his title as beloved "Uncle D" to his nieces and nephew whom he adored. His was playfully teased by his loved ones for his big appetite. He enjoyed expressing himself through his personal style, which he prided himself on being like no one else. Out of both of his siblings, Derrick was the only one born in Charlotte, and he prided himself as the only true Charlottean. He was especially loyal to the Carolina Panthers. He also supported his father's favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Derrick leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Philip and Ramona Ingram; sister, Keahti Ingram and brother, Philip Ingram Jr.; one nephew Trey'Von Ingram; two nieces, Jiya Ingram and Maleya Thompson, and godparents, Darlene (George) Brooks. He also leaves to his everlasting memory a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to include great aunt Ertha Mccain, and close friend Tyla Bailey.
