Derrick LeVel Terry was born on July 3, 1980 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the youngest son of Craig L. Terry and Zenobia "Penny" Terry. Derrick departed this life, age 39, on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Pineville Atrium Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He graduated from Halifax County Senior High School in South Boston, Virginia. Derrick attended Virginia State University after graduation and also obtained his Mortgage Certification from CPCC in Charlotte, North Carolina. At a young age, Derrick accepted Christ, where he served as an usher. In 2019, he joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Derrick enjoyed joking and making people laugh, being with family, watching football, playing spades and bowling. Anyone who knew Derrick, knew he was a loyal fan of the San Francisco 49ers. He was able to see their start of a winning season where they are now 9-0, and was able to enjoy their last game on October 31, 2019. In the summer he enjoyed cooking on the grill and he would brag to everyone about "Daddy's famous chicken wings". Derrick was a dedicated worker and always willing to help out others. He was employed at Citi Financial Group in Fort Mill, South Carolina as an AML Analyst.

On May 14, 2003, the blooming relationship began with the love of his life. Derrick married Chaseenia Brewer on June 5, 2010. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Chaseenia Terry; three beautiful daughters, Kania L. Terry, Jada S. Terry, Genesis L. Terry and family dog, Lucky; his maternal grandmother Josephine Scott Jeffress; father Craig L. Terry (Shirley); mother Zenobia "Penny" Terry (TC) and one brother Maurice Terry (Jenelle); father-in-law, Chauncey (Deborah); mother-in-law, Rowena(Stacy); sister-in laws Leslie(Andre), Nikki, Rashia (Ron), Rotika and one brother-in-law, Stacy Jr.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
