IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Faulkner
January 28, 1951 – July 22, 2022
Donald Fredrick Faulkner, 71, formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on July 22, 2022 at Atrium Health University. He was born January 28, 1951, in Charlotte, NC. Affectionately known by many as "Bubba" given that name by his youngest sister, who as told by his mother, Florence Henderson, was unable to pronounce brother and would say "that's my Bubba" and the name stuck. A lifelong Charlottean, Bubba lived boldly until his passing.
He attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. As a youth he was fascinated with boxing and became a member of the Golden Gloves Club. Under the boxing name "Tiger Faulkner" Bubba was able to travel as far away as Green Bay, Wisconsin allowing him to hone his skills and express his passion for boxing.
Bubba married his childhood sweetheart, the former Gloria Jean Able and they were married 46 years until her passing December 25, 2019. A constant companion and a doting caregiver in the later years when her health declined.
Bubba retired from Merita Bakery. Retirement allowed Bubba to spend time gardening, learning to cook and playing cards. He never lost his passion for boxing and would host friends and family to watch matches on his big screen TV.
He was a proud member of Ben Salem Presbyterian Church and especially honored to call his son his pastor. He used his spiritual gifts to witness and usher at the church. Bubba always extended an invitation to everyone to come learn and hear a word about Jesus Christ.
In addition to his mother, Florence and his wife Gloria, he is predeceased by his brothers Darrell, Eddie, and Douglas. He is survived by his sons, whom he loved unconditionally, Gregory Faulkner, Reginald Williams (Telphine), and Reverend Damiko Faulkner (Niche). Most adored by his grandchildren Cordarryl Futrick Logan, Layla, Lexton, Channing, and Chase Faulkner and four great grandchildren. Also surviving sisters Gwendolyn Cooper, Mamie Cuthbertson (Joseph), and Sherry Faulkner. Aunt Hattie Brown, sister-in-law Marion Brooks, Brother in laws Pete and Michael, Able, many nieces /nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
