Mr. Donald McClelland, 69 of Charlotte, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. He was the son of the late James and Inez McClelland, was born on January 19, 1953 in Charlotte, NC.
Affectionately nicknamed "Duckool," Donald was the coolest "Duck"! He was always doing everything he could to take care of his family and spoil his "Ducklins and Grand Ducklins". The highlight of his life was spending time with his family. His home was the center of all the family gatherings and was filled with food, singing and dancing. Donald truly loved his family and friends and never met a stranger. He was always willing to help people in need - even giving food from his own table. "Duck" enjoyed life to the fullest. His personality and laugh were contagious. Never anything short of a great time was guaranteed in his presence.
"Duckool" loved his sports - especially the college team sporting his favorite color, the Duke Blue Devils. He supported none other than Americas favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, and shared the love of the team with his son and brothers (except Jamie).
Donald attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1971. He often would joke about graduating from Grier Town University. In his youth, Donald worked at the Exxon 76 gas station with his brothers. In his adult life, he worked at Conbraco and he spent many years working at Moss Supply, a window making company. He took pride in his work and was the best at his job!
Donald was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Sandra "Tate" McClelland; brother, James McClelland and sister, Shirley Wheeler (William).
He leaves to cherish memories his children, Lamont Taylor (Lori), Sekenia Threatt (Ronnie), Tashara Taylor (Phillip); siblings, Margaret Maxwell (William), Earl, Charles (Gwen), Johnny Lee McClelland, all of Charlotte, NC. To continue his legacy and celebrate his life, he leaves 14 grandchildren, Mone', Tajhzna, Jhane, Aubrien, Janole (Lashell), Nashira, Tashawn, Kimora, Tyrin, Starr, Amil, Aubria, Zoe, Jordyn; 12 great-grandchildren, Nieema, Layla, Jayla, King, Mj, Nyla Trayvon, Jace, Elyssia, Loyal, Lyric, Kemani; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
