Mrs. Donya Giles Glenn, 49 of Charlotte, passed away Friday February 08, 2019 at Novant Health-Presbyterian.  Donya was born October 31, 1969 to the Late Johnny Claude Johnson and Dorothy Davis (Giles).  She attended Charlotte Mecklenburg School district and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1988.  She later went on to obtain a certified nursing assistance license from American Nursing College in 1990.

Donya loved working with young children.  She devoted many years to shaping and molding young minds as a preschool teacher.  She used a unique style of singing in each lesson to teach her students.  Her pupils loved her just as much as she loved them.  Later, Donya decided to change professions and become a transportation drive for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  She would grow to love this profession more than any other position held.  While, Donya was no longer a teacher, she was able to share life lessons with them daily.  Donya was known for creating exceptional relationships with her students.  Throughout her tenure as a driver, she would receive many complements and accolades from her peers and students alike.  Her best accolade received was an award for Perfect attendance as a second-year driver.

Donya is survived by her husband Maurice; mother, Dorothy Davis; daughter, Victoria Giles; sister, Sarah Davis Locker (Kerry); brothers: Jeffery Giles (Natalia), Harold Johnson, Johnny C. Johnson, Jr., Michael Hayes, and JC Johnson; Grandchild, Makayla Streeter, God Daughter, Briana Barringer, Uncles: Frank Giles (Gloria) and Melvin Johnson; Aunt: Anne Colvin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Donya was always the life of the party.  She enjoyed having a good time with family and friends.  Donya had an infectious personality and a smile that would brighten any room.  She will be missed dearly by all of those she touched.
