Doris May Lang (Ma, Mommy, Aunt Dotsy, Grandma, Sister Lang), 90, of Charlotte, North Carolina, went to be with her "Heavenly Father" on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 7AM.
The Funeral service will be held at 10AM Friday, July 17, 2020 at the Springfield Gardens Church of the Nazarene located at 145-01 Farmers Boulevard Jamaica, NY 11434. Rev. Lenroy Pascall of the Springfield Gardens Church of the Nazarene will be officiating both the Visitation service & Funeral service. The Visitation service will be held at 4PM-6PM Thursday, July 16, 2020 at J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home located at 179-24 Linden Blvd. Jamaica, NY 11434. Burial will follow the Funeral at Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum located at 2030 Wellwood Ave Farmingdale, NY 11735. J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home is handling the Funeral arrangements.
Doris was born on December 16, 1929 in Flushing, New York in the borough of Queens; to the parents of John Henry Lang and Myrtle Steward Lang. Doris was preceded in death by her brother John Henry, her two sisters Lois and Gloria. Doris attended Flushing High School in the borough of Queens, NY; she also graduated St. Francis College with her four-year degree in Nursing.
Doris began her working career at an early age in Human Services, first as a Nurse's Assistant for 17 years at Queens General Hospital in the borough of Queens, NY and then advanced to a Registered Nurse for the remainder of her working career; retiring in 1993.
Doris was very proud of and loved each of her children; she loved the Lord her God with all her heart and soul. Doris (Sister Lang) was a faithful member of the Springfield Gardens Church of the Nazarene in Jamaica, NY for 45 years until she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado; then moving again in 2008 to North Carolina.
Left to cherish and carry her memories are her four children:Linda Banks Gittens, Cheryl Banks Wall, Karen Banks, Howard John Banks III. Doris also had eleven grandchildren she loved and helped to mold them with her evangelical loving spirit: Robert L. Gittens, Ayanna Parris Santiago, Antoinette Wall Bennett, Byron D. Gittens, Jamienta L. Parris, Jamaal A. Gittens, Kara Wall Jernigan, Brandon Banks, Erdal II. Bengogullari, Tamir Banks, Naomi Banks.
