Doris Williams Simpson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and lifelong resident of Charlotte N.C. died unexpectantly on April 21, 2020 at the age of 84 while a resident of Charlotte Health and Rehab.
Doris was born in Charlotte N.C. on November 05, 1935 to David Williams and Pauline Sweat. She attended Charlotte City Schools and graduated from West Charlotte High School. Doris went on to attend Johnson C. Smith College. She worked at Lance Packing Company and retired after 20 years of service there. Doris then worked for 6 years at Carolina Medical Center.
St. Paul Baptist Church was Doris' home for many years where she was a devoted member and served as an usher and missionary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years James Thomas Simpson, her Stepdad DeArmon Sweat, her brother Quinten Sweat, and her sister Eljean Sweat.
Doris is survived by her son David Williams (Lynelle), her grandsons Malakai Williams (Monique) and Nashadd Williams (Coya); her daughter Charlette Simpson, her granddaughters Krystal Simpson and Tanjanika Kirkland; a sister Nell; aunts Annie Mae Nail, Betty Williams (Will), and Marion Harper; nieces June Marie Nail and Carolyn Shipp (Willie); eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Charlotte Health and Rehab for their care and concern for Doris during her stay there, and Hospice for their care and services.
