Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bell Blue, 87, unexpectedly went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 27, 2014 from her home in Monroe, NC. Mrs. Blue was born October 13, 1927 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Alfred Bell and Mary Ella Roseboro. She was a devoted wife to the late Joshua Blue, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. Survivors include her son, Venton Lee Bell, Sr. (Renee) of Monroe, NC; three grandchildren, Nina Adams (Jeffery), Venton Bell, Jr. (Cathy) and Danielle Funderburk (Antonio); eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Also, she leaves behind a special friend, Allen Gaines, with whom she shared many years of her life. While living in Charlotte, NC, she was a faithful member of the Trustee Board at Temple Chapel Baptist Church, and the Hymn Choir, and was a member of the Knights of Guiding Star of the East of North Carolina. Upon moving to Monroe, NC, she became a devoted member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church of Waxhaw, NC. Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Grier Funeral Service, 115 John McCarroll Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28216. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Blue's honor to Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 16, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
