Dorothy Evelyn Smith, 91, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at her residence in Charlotte, NC.

Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn White Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 6, 1934, to the late Clifford Leroy White and the late Luvenia Little White. She was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Dorothy graduated from the historic Torrence Lytle High School in Huntersville, North Carolina in 1953. After graduating from high school, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She lived there until returning to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2006. She was employed as a clerk for Consolidated Edison from October 1970 to January 1997.

She enjoyed playing bingo, card games, and the lottery. She also enjoyed reading and traveling. Dorothy was an active church member at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church until her health failed.

She was married to the late Vincent Smith from September 1967 to his passing on May 22, 2021. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Hampton, Mildred Talbert, Martha Johnson, Doris Pharr, Shirley Ann White, and Mary Barringer; and two brothers, James Edward White and Larry White.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Keith Smith; stepchildren, Jacqueline Lewin (Lorna), Veniece Smith and Michael Smith of Miami, Florida; three sisters, Betty Russell, Joanne Bennett, Sandra Smith; and two brothers, Alfred White and Ricky White; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
