Douglas Harden Marshall Jr. was born on June 11, 1945 in Conway, SC to the late Rev. Douglas Harden Marshall Sr. and the late Katherine Myers. As the sunset on December 10,2020 he was relieved of all his earthly duties and called to his eternal home by Our Heavenly Father.
In his early years he attended Second Ward High School; afterwards he gained employment with Barringer Hotels and John Belk's where he was a leading waiter and bartender. He also worked as a car salesman for Town and Country for several years. Doug realized that he wanted to be his own boss and  decided to start his own businesses such as car washes, Dry Cleaners, Flower Shop, Social Club and the list goes on. His final entrepreneurial venture was retailing men's apparel. He wanted men of all ages to look distinguished at all times. Doug loved to dress to impress, sing praises to God and read all types of novels. When we say Doug enjoyed life we mean just that! He was an open book. Those that knew him knew his story and if you didn't know it he would share it without hesitation.
Doug was the recording secretary for an organization, THE INDIVISIBLE VISION, that was close to his heart. He enjoyed social gatherings as well as mentoring young men standing in the gap wherever needed. He loved people. He had enough compassion and honesty to go around.
Doug came from a big family. He was the oldest of sixteen children. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Hallie Marshall; three brothers Rev. Albert Marshall, Rev. Grady Bennett, and Glenn Marshall; three sisters Evonne Smith, Early Marshall and Glennie Smith.
Left to cherish fond memories is his oldest daughter Betty Williams (Ronald) of Goose Creek, SC, step-daughter Lachondra Lackey of Charlotte NC and sons Douglas Watson and Darris Marshall both of Charlotte NC, five brothers Jason Bennett (Sheila) of Charlotte NC, Henry Nickelson (Evonne) of Rock Hill SC, Billy Nickelson, Buster Marshall (Quakina) both of Lancaster, SC and Eugene Marshall (Alya) of Fort Mill SC, four sisters Julia Hamilton, Susan Nickelson, both of Fort Mill SC, Myrtle Newman and Juanita Blakeney both of Charlotte NC, 12 grands and 13 great-grands a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other loving family and friends. Doug had a special place in his heart for everyone but he was especially fond of Bryant Foust and Teresa Love and a special devoted friend and caregiver Ms. Sandra Davis.
