Doyle Reed Jr., affectionately known as Buster born June 30, 1941, to the late Doyle Reed Sr., and the late Emma Jane Huff Reed Thorton, peacefully passed away June 03, 2024. He was the youngest sibling among five: the late Dorthy Jordan, and surviving sisters Annette Clark of Brooklyn, New York, Sadie Stewart of Brooklyn, New York, and Fannie Mae Brown of Hartwell, GA.
After graduating high school he moved to Charlotte NC and soon welcomed his first child, Craig Louis Raye, into the world. He later met the love of his life, Evelyn Cureton, and they exchanged vows on February 23, 1964. From their enduring union, two more blessings came into their lives: Doyle Eugene Reed and Davandra Evette Reed.
Buster attended Gethsemane Baptist Church for many years. After several years, he and Evelyn joined Greater Galilee Baptist Church, where he continued to serve until his passing.
Among his many passions, Buster found immense joy in working with the scouts for over two decades, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives. Yet, perhaps his greatest love was found by the water's edge, as fishing brought him peace and contentment.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 60 years, Evelyn, along with their three children: Craig (Lisa), Doyle (Kim), and Davandra. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives he touched with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Buster's legacy of faith, family, and service will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
