Obituary

On July 17, 1939, God blew the breath of life into the earthly temple of Earl Henry Thompson, a gift from God to Lumas Thompson and Lillie Mae Harris Thompson of Raleigh, North Carolina.  On Saturday, August 3, 2019 God called His servant back to Himself.

Earl was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and was educated in the Wake County School District.  While pursing a higher education at Wake Technical Community College in Air Conditioning and Heating, he obtained employment with Thermo Industries where he was a valuable employee for 40 years.

Earl was a loving influence to all whom he encountered.  He was stern, inspirational, and always promoted to be self-sufficient, educated and outgoing.  "Whatever you learn, no one can take that away from you, so strive to be your best."

Earl was a faithful servant to God and those he loved.  At an early age, he accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and began to attend Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.  After marrying, he joined Elevation Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.  After moving to Charlotte, NC in 1966, he took the right hand of fellowship and became a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

Earl united in holy matrimony to the former Pearlie Mae Jackson on February 24, 1960.  God blessed them with three beautiful children, Kim, Karen, and Earl, Jr.  Earl's family was his pride and joy and he labored in love to provide a safe, stable and secure environment for them to grow and thrive.

Earl was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Felicia Thompson; and parents, Lumas and Lillie Mae Harris Thompson.

Earl leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife, Pearlie Mae Jackson Thompson; daughter, Karen Thompson McManus (Calvin) and son, Earl Henry Thompson, Jr. (April), all of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Billy James Banks, Al Thompson (Lola); two sisters, Mable Banks and Luna Mae Hinton, all of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Kanesia Maple, Felicia Maple Cunningham (Dmarquin), Jasmin Pride and Christian Thompson, all of Charlotte, NC; three godchildren, Kenneth Massey, Reshawnda Mason, Siera Massey; and many other children that he raise, mentored and loved.  Earl will be missed by brothers and sisters in love, nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
