"Earnice Yancey, 63, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023. Earnice grew up in New York City, a city she loved but eventually left. She worked in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years and enjoyed time with family & friends, and everything Jesus including attending church, audible scripture readings, and talking about Jesus. Earnice will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Earnice was predeceased by her father, Thaddeus Gunnell, her grandmother Lilly Perkins, and several aunts and uncles from the Perkins family. Earnice is survived by her mother – Evelyn Gunnell, brother – Russell Gunnell, adopted siblings – Cemone Romero-Gunnell, Caesar Romero-Gunnell, and Jose Romero-Gunnell, and Willie Gunnell; ex-spouse – Don Anthony Yancey Sr.; four sons – Don Anthony Yancey Jr. and daughter in-law, Gigi Gilbert-Yancey; Daniel Yancey and daughter in-law, Naima Yancey; Joel Yancey; and Jason Yancey; seven grandchildren – Jason Russell Yancey Jr., Aaron Mekhi Yancey, Naim Brock Yancey, Danielle Elizabeth Yancey, Josiah Don Amir Gilbert-Yancey, Jeovonnie Gilbert-Montealegre, and Justice Gilbert-Montealegre. Nieces and nephews – Maxwell Russell Gunnell and his wife, CeCe Gunnell, their daughter, Mya Grace Gunnell, Eugene Harris, Kristi Harris, and Joshua Harris. Brothers & sisters in Christ in New York, South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina throughout her journey in life.

Earnice requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Earnice's family and friends to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at Grier Funeral Service on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 1p EST."
