Mr. Eddie M. Herron, 89, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Mecklenburg County and was reared by his uncle and aunt, the late Andy and Carrie Herron.

He graduated from Plato Price high School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Army.  After an Honorable Discharge, Eddie worked for Thomas & Howard Food Distributors.  The bulk of his work career was spent with the United States Postal Service.  He was an active member of Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn M. Herron; daughter, Sheryl D. Walker (Wayne) of Brooklyn, NY; son, Eddie Andre Herron of Charlotte, NC; sister, Mattie Carter; two step-sons, Graham Watt (Phyllis) of Cary, NC and Mel Watt (Eulada) of Washington, DC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives.

The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. and burial will be in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church or Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte.
