Obituary

Mr. Eddie Stevenson was born to the late Johnny Stevenson and Florence Hicklen on July 25, 1940 in Lancaster, South Carolina. He was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House - Huntersville of Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region. Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by one son, Chris Stevenson; one brother, Richard Stevenson; and two sisters, Martha Mackey and Margaret Champion. He was educated in the Lancaster County School System. For 32 years, he was a dedicated and loyal employee of Duke Power where he retired in 2003. Mr. Stevenson loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was a faithful member for many years at Parkwood Institutional CME Church where he served in many capacities such as the Trustee Board, member of the Steward Board, Usher Board, Kitchen Committee, and the Men's Ministry. Twice he was awarded Male Senior Citizen of the Year and he was presented with the honor of the women's auxiliary program award. One would regularly find him in Bible Study and Sunday School. Mr. Stevenson was an unofficial choir member of all choirs and an unofficial security guard where he often secured the church grounds as if it was his very own. Left to cherish fond memories are two sons, Carnell Davis of Kansas City, MO and Kenneth Stevenson (Gigi) of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Wendy Stevenson of Charlotte; one brother, Lewis Stevenson of Lancaster, SC; three sisters, Willie Mae Montgomery of Lancaster, SC, Flossie Stevenson of Patterson, NJ and Ella Sykes of Sharon PA; one sister-in-law, Hattie Stevenson of Charlotte; three grandsons, Joshua Stevenson of Greensboro, NC, and Eddie Porter (Aisha) and Trent Stevenson, both of Charlotte; four granddaughters, Taylor Staden of Oklahoma, Imara Livingston of Kansas City, MO, Sherenda Briggs of Kansas City, MO, and Kidra Stevenson of Charlotte; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mr. Stevenson will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Parkwood Institutional C.M.E. Church at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Visitation prior to the service will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Garden, Huntersville, NC
