Mrs. Edith C. McDonald, 100, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Mrs. Edith C. McDonald, affectionately known as “Bootsie”, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. Her parents were James P. and Agnes Hall Currence. A graduate of Reid High School and Johnson C. Smith University, Bootsie had a passion for education and served as a teacher and reading specialist in the Gaston County Public Schools system for decades. She leaves behind three children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Her faith in God was central to her life, and she was committed to serving others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who know her. A celebration of Life will be held at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Belmont, NC, on March 4, 2026, beginning with a visitation at 11 am, followed by Mass at 12 pm. Services are entrusted to Grier Funeral Service, 115 John McCarroll Ave., Charlotte, NC 28216.
