Edmond Wilfred Komba Turner was born alongside his fraternal twin Desmond Turner on September 9, 1957, in Yengema, Kono District, Sierra Leone, to the late Komba Timothy Turner and the late Juliet Martha Turner.

On November 7, 2024, his soul peacefully transitioned to the Lord, a reunion with family and friends he had not seen in a long time, and a place where there is no death, sorrow, crying, or pain (Revelation 21:4).

Edmond attended the Methodist Church Primary School for Boys and the N'jala Experimental Primary School. He attended two high schools: the Albert Academy in Freetown and Koidu Secondary School, Kono District, Sierra Leone. During his youthful days, he was a keen sportsman: disc thrower, shot putter, javeline, and hammer thrower. He also played volleyball and soccer for his school and a local soccer club called Rangers International.

He went on to study at the Kenema Technical Institute, where he graduated with a City and Guilds Diploma in Building Construction. He remained in Iowa for many years before moving to North Carolina in 2011. Edmond worked in the construction department of the National Diamond Mining Company, the Ministry of Works, the British High Commission in Sierra Leone, and various construction companies in the United States.

Edmond was a remarkable man who lived a full and active life, making a positive impact on those around him. He was known for his warm smile and his ability to light up any room he walked into. He loved being around people, whether it was dancity at family gatherings or just enjoying the company of others.

He was a calm,  kind, humble, and generous man who was always ready to help when needed. He believed strongly in the value of hard work. These are life lessons he passed down to his children. Family meant the world to Edmond, and he took great pride in being a brother, father, and grandfather.

To his twin Desmond Turner, we can never fully understand the bond you two shared. We pray that the support you receive for your twin will remind yo of positive times when grief may be triggered.

Edmond is survived by his six children: Tina Turner, Juliet Olorundare, Saa Quentin Turner, Tamba Xavier, Wilfred Turner, Sia Turner, and Rylynn Gilmore; his eight grandchildren: Jahvoni Lowe-McQuist, Jayden Lowe-McQuist, TreJore Clark, Jeremiah Olorundare, Sia Maelynne Turner, Josiah Olorundare, Jessie Olorundare, and Joel Olorundare; his seven siblings: Florence, Kenneth, Jenner, Desmond, Dennis, Marcella, and Tina; his bonus children, his beloved in-laws, his children's mothers, nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends, both at home and abroad.

Edmond, Dad, Eddyo, Mr. Turner! We know that you are in the hands of the Master Jesus, so sleep and take your rest. We shall meet on the beautiful shore.
