Edna Mae Coakley, 70 of Matthews, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster.  Born in Lee County on March 10, 1952, she was the oldest daughter of the late Joe and Nettie Bacote Coakley.

She graduated from Mayewood High School in 1970.  She was employed at Walmart until illness forced her to take a leave of absence.  She loved spending time with her family.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter LaToya Coakley English of Charlotte, NC; One brother Willie Coakley (Earline) of Sumter, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Nettie Coakley and four brothers, Robert Bacote, George Bacote, Isaac Bacote and Joseph Coakley.
