Obituary

Edna was born on September 6, 1945. She transitioned to her new home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 6, 2019. Edna was 74 years of age.

Edna Attended Torrence Lytle High School and graduated from Teamer School of Religion. She was a professional seamstress previously employed by the US Army, Girl Scouts of America, Baltimore City and Maryland State.

She was the daughter of the late Ruth V. Murphy and the step daughter of Otho Murphy and John McQueen. She was adopted by the late Lillie and Johnny Berry.

Her children were the love of her life and the joy of her happiness. She was an old school parent that was known by her discipline and how well mannered her children were. When she saw an undisciplined and disrespectful child she would say "if I had that child for a week I would break them from that. All I need is a week and when I send them back home to their parents they would not recognize them because they would be so well mannered".

Edna loved to travel and would go as often as she could with her sons and their families. One of her traveling buddies was Tony's mother-in-law Fannye McKenzie. They traveled to Massanutten and when it was time to go, she would say "it's time to smell some gas".

She loved to play spades, checkers, do crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader. She was one of the few people who read the newspaper from front to back every day. She loved plants and flowers.

Edna also loved sports. She was a Charlotte Panther and Charlotte Hornets fan. She loved boxing, wrestling and mixed marshall arts. She loved to shop QVC and eat ice cream at night when everyone was asleep. She loved and kept candy around all the time. Her two most favorite things to buy were track suits and shoes. She also loved all kinds of music, especially gospel.

Edna was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Douglas. She was survived by three sons Tony (Wanda); Carlos (Carolyn); and Mario (Michelle); eleven grandchildren- Jordan, Adria, Jaquan, Zachery, Corey, Cynthia, Avery, Brittany, Mario, Jr., Jazmine, Kailen, Sr.; two great-grand children-Jakayla and Kailen, Jr.
