Mother Edna Mae Shine ,75 of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Atrium Health-Main. She was born in Polkton, NC in Anson County on May 18, 1944 to the late Overseer Ollie Mae Houston and the late Will Shine. She worked at various jobs, during and throughout her life's journey. Most recently, Mother Edna was a homemaker and primary caregiver to her adopted daughter/great niece Veronica "Sheaka" Shine. She was a faithful, lifetime member of the Greater Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, located on McArthur Avenue, Clt. NC where the angel is Pastor S. Horton. She was the manager of "her girls" as she often and affectionately called them The Faithful Few Gospel Singers of Charlotte, NC. She held the title of "Mother" of the church. She is and always will be cherished, loved, and missed dearly by many.
Mother Edna was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Johnnie Mae (Coochie) Shine. She leaves to cherish fond memories, six daughters; Shirley (Dale) Mundy of Newport News, VA, Pamela Hallman, Patricia Hallman, Lisa (Kenny) Johnston, Clarissa Hallman, and Elizabeth Hallman all of Charlotte, NC. A special daughter Bonnie Sutton who loved and adored her. A special niece who is also like a daughter, Shinita (William) Horton, her beloved Denise Wells, 7 siblings; Elizabeth Shine, Frank Shine, Jeffert Shine, Joseph Shine, Betty Johnson, John (Florene) Shine, and Rita (Sammy) Falls, 17 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
