Obituary

Edna Springs, age 89, died peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024, in her home in Charlotte, North Carolina. From, her birth, on January 28, 1935 to her death, she loved GOD and family. She nourished people around her with honesty, food love, and her love of God.

Edna was born to Samuel Douglas and Alean (Ferguson) Douglas. She was the fifth child born from this union. Edna enjoyed cooking with her mother, Annie Lou (Dolly) Brown, and playing with paper dolls as a child. She graduated from West Charlotte High School at the age of 17. She then married Julius Williams in 1957. Edna relocated from Charlotte, NC to Brooklyn, NY. During this time, she was a homemaker to her husband and eight beautiful children. Her pride and joy was being a mother. Edna took pride in her home and raising her children with good values and love.

During the 1980's, Edna also worked for the New York City Board of Education as an office manager. She worked for several years and then relocated back home to join her siblings and other in Charlotte, NC.

Edna loved the Lord and put God first in everything she did. She read her bible every day to her son, Miles. Miles was her everything and her entire life was dedicated to him and the Lord.

Edna had an affinity for fashion and home decor. She put her heart and soul into her house and make it a beautiful home. Her home was always immaculate and beautifully decorated. Her favorite colors were black and white.

She enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers and basketball. Her two favorite players were Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Her favorite show as of recent was Family Feud with Steve Harvey. Edna loved shopping, especially New York, where she shopped at the finest boutiques and loved going out to eat with her children and grandchildren at Red Lobster, City Island, and Szechuan in New York.

She was mother to eight, however, she was a mother figure to all those who came into her presence, especially Selina Albert, Printella Hightower, and her niece, Gwendolyn Tubaya. Everyone knew you could always call her any time for a kind word and honesty.

She was peace and love for all of her grandchildren and the best mother and grandmother that anyone could ask for.

Left to honor Edna and remember her are her sister, Annie Thomas and brother Kenneth Douglas (Linda); six children, Alean Williams, Judy Williams, Julius Williams (Verna), Teresa Williams, Sylvi Williams Thompson (Donald), and her pride and joy, Miles Williams; daughter-in-law, Doris Williams; sisters-in-law, Mary Douglas, Evelyn Douglas and Ella Douglas, brother-in-law, Ruben Kin; twenty-three grandchildren and over twenty great-grandchildren, whom she loved.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Samuel Douglas, Bill Douglas, James Douglas; sisters, Gracie Harper, Jacqueline King; brother-in-law, Billie Thomas; firstborn grandchild, George Jeanette; sons, Alan Williams, Diedor Williams; and her loving husband, Eucephus Springs.
