Obituary

Edna Ruth E. Williams was born on October 2, 1940 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Lonnie and Ollie Mae Leak Elder. Edna entered her heavenly home on November 19, 2024.

She attended Isabella Wyche Elementary, one year at Second Ward High School, then two years at West Charlotte High school graduating in 1958. She received her Associates Degree as a Microcomputer Operator from Rutledge College, where she was on the Dean's list. Edna grew up attending Gethsemane Baptist Church, singing on the choir, ushering and attending Sunday School/ When several family members and friends left Gethsemane, they had service at her parents' house, before moving to the funeral home where the members established Reeder Memorial Baptist Church and where she became a Charter member. Edna was a quiet soul who sang from her heart for the love she had for God; she also joined The Greater Charlotte Community Chorale Choir where she was a Charter Member and one of the lead soloist. The Greater Charlotte Community Chorale Choir traveled all over the United States to spread the love they had for Jesus praising in song.

Her favorite Scripture: Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She retired from Eckerds Warehouse after fourteen years of service. She worked as a Director at L.E.A.P. Academy daycare. She was an entrepreneur with her own flower shop, "Flowers by Edna", making beautiful silk floral arrangements; she also so Princess House, Tupperware, and Avon. Edna was a member of the Les Pierrettes Social Club and Life Membership with Second Ward National Alumni. Her favorite thing to do was travel; visiting places like New York, Hawaii, Spain, Paris, and several other places. She especially enjoyed visiting Georgia, where some of her children and grandchildren lived. Edna often said she was blessed to travel and grateful to God for all of her opportunities.

Preceded in death: Tommy J. Williams(husband), Darrell Anthony Junious, Timothy Antwan Junious (sons), Lonnie Mae Miller, Barbara Ann Gaskin, Joe Lewis Ervin (siblings, and Bobbie Jean Parkers(sister-cousin).

She leaves behind four children: Clevados J. Taylor, D.A.V./P.E.R.M., Robert L. Junious (Gina), Robin T. Junious, LaTonya P. Williams, three siblings; Esther D. Elder, Marian Hagler, Lycurgus Oates (Joanne), eight grands: Steven B. Taylor, Daryl C. Taylor, Monica S. Junious, SSGT Lionel E. Junious, 1st Lt. Alex L. Junious, Lamont Junious, Santrice Williams, and Carlton J. Clegg, Jr.; seventeen great-grands, and one great, great, great grand; three God-sisters: Patricia Webster, Arlene Jones, Peggie, Reid (JS); two GodDaughters: Sandra Braswell, Taheeda Dobie; one god-son; Kelvin Bratton; three God-nieces; Lynn Quick, Betty Ann Wyrick, Sherry M. Baxter; six God-nephews: Bryan Parks, Michael Parks, Joe Jones, Oneil Junious, Ronald Williams, Gerald Williams; and three God grandsons: Damonshae Jones, Rev. Adrian Wyrick, II, Alex Wyrick.
