Mr. Edward Elijah Brinson, 64, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Edward Elijah Brinson, aged 64, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Born on April 23, 1960, in Philadelphia, PA, Edward was a dedicated individual known for his strong character and deep commitment to his family and faith.
Edward's life was marked by his extensive and impressive educational background, which included an Associate of Science degree from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in New York, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Trident University in Chandler, AZ. His career was equally distinguished, having served in both the US Army from 1996 to 2008 and the US Marine Corp from 1978 to 1982, before transitioning to significant roles such as the Regional Contracting Officer at the Department of the Interior National Park Services, and multiple positions at the North Carolina VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC and the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.
He was a devout member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA, and the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, MI. Edward was an avid supporter of the NFL Philadelphia Eagles, a grandmaster in chess, a skilled bass guitar player, and a knowledgeable theologian. His hobbies included track and field and golf. He was a Prince Hall Past Master at Davidson Lodge 511-District 33.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Patrice Hardmon Brinson; daughter, Taisha Winborn; siblings, Charletta Maria Nealy, Dwayne Allen Brinson, Salyima Renee McLaughilin; grandchildren, Emahni Joyner, Isaiah Taylor III, Kamiah Winborn, Kannon Winborn, Karson Moss; great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Christine and Elijah Richardson; his siblings, Stephen Tyrone Brinson and Christine Yvette McLaughilin; his daughter Abigail Taylor; granddaughter Jamyia Smith, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
