Mr. Edward Henderson, 87, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Mercy Atrium Hospital.

Edward J. Henderson, a.k.a. Bubba, departed this life on February 19, 2025, at Atrium Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC.  He was the son of the late Margaret Henderson and Simon Wallace.  Edward grew up in Charlotte in the Grier Heights "Grier Town" community.  He was a life-long member of Grier Heights Presbyterian Church where he once served on the Board of Trustees.  Edward remained an active supporter of his church up until his departure.  During his earlier years, he enjoyed bus trips with family and friends.  He was blessed and proud to have visited at least ten to twelve states.

Edward attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and at an early age, he began his career as an employee of Mercy Hospital where he remained for 45 years of full service.  In addition, he was known for walking to and from work daily.  After about 25 years of employment at Mercy, he had his first heart attack where he was treated like royalty by the best heart doctors and specialists in the country.  Bubba was approaching 88 years of life come June 2025.  It was long felt that his years of daily walking and yard work, which he loved, helped to keep him "heart healthy" longer than 70 years!  To God Be the Glory!

Mr. Henderson leaves to celebrate and mourn his life his sister Sylvia Henderson Bogany.  In addition to his parents, Bubba was preceded in death by sister, Clara "Coota" Henderson in June 2022, and one brother, J.B. Henderson in December 2023.

The family extends their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to Obie Blackwell, Raymond and Inez Alexander, Gerry Wallace, Gene Stitt and the Eastway Regional Recreation Center.  Appreciation is also extended to Rev. Dr. Lloyd B. Morris and Rev. Dr. Anita Wright for their comforting prayers, visits, and assistance.  Thank you to the Grier Heights Presbyterian Church Family for their kindness shown during this time of bereavement.
