Mr. Edward Byers Jr., 67 of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his residence.  He was born July 29, 1953 in New York, NY and transitioned on April 19, 2021.  He was the son of the late Eddie Byers Jr. and Maggie Louise Henderson.  Edward was preceded in death by five siblings, Leon Byers, Patricia Byers, Eddie Byers III, Herbert Gabriel III, Crystal Gabriel, and stepfather, Herbert Henderson Jr.

Edward was educated through the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  He was affectionately known as "Deacon Byers" while serving as a deacon, musician, and van driver at Revelation Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He was known for his exceptional guitar playing and singing abilities.  He was also frequently called upon for his sound technician skills.  Edward's multiple skills enabled him to obtain jobs in the transportation, retail, and service industries.

Edward was a beloved father who deeply loved "his girls."  He could be spotted cheering loudly at all of their sporting events.  He had an infectious smile that would light up a room.  He was kindhearted and willing to offer help to anyone in need.  He was known for his brief, but caring phone check-ins with loved ones.

Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of 39 years, Zella Byers; two daughters, Klarissa Byers and Brittany Davis (Walter); 15 siblings, Michael Byers (Willetta), Danny Cropper, Sandra Gabriel (Roger), Cheryl Byers Brannon (Victor), William Byers (Cheryl), Tony Henderson (Cynthia), Doug Henderson, Sharon Blakney (Louis), Beathel Henderson, Jacqueline Roscoe (Markie), Derrick Henderson (Lorraine), Darrick Henderson (Teresa), Robert Henderson, Andrew Henderson (Wilette), and Eugene Henderson; three aunts, Ruby Wallace, Evelyn White, and Modestine Byers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and other loved ones.
