Edward Jerome Williams, 60, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center in Huntersville, NC.
Army Ranger Edward Jerome Williams was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on October 16, 1965, to his loving parents, Grace Ann and Johnny Wendell Williams, Sr. They lived at many places like Hamilton Street, Dwight Street, New Hall Street, Lander Street, Winthrop Avenue and Sherman Avenue.
Eddie was educated in the New Haven Public School System. He graduated high school from the Eli Whitney Vocational Technical School in Hamden, Connecticut. He enjoyed being a member of the track team during his high school years. For a short time, he enjoyed boxing at Ring One along with his brothers, Johnny and Marty until it was discovered that he had easy nose bleeds. He was a tough kid coming up. His parents had him join the Army right out of high school and he served for eight years. He was very sure of himself and what he could do along with being very smart.
Some of his accomplishments are Army Service and Overseas Service Ribbons, Good Conduct Medal, Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, just to name a few. Many things he experienced are not noted. He always would say just “know the rules.” Many people respected him for who he was and many people loved him for what he meant to them.
Eddie passed away in Charlotte on Friday, August 14, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Williams; two brothers, Martin Williams and Johnny Williams, Jr. (Carole); his sons, Edward Williams Jr. and Tarek Williams, Sr. (Chamille); and his daughters, Grace Jackson (Cedric), Brianna Williams and Rebekah Williams. He leaves his grandchildren, Cedric III, Iyonna, Breanna, Alana, Jack, Tarek Jr., Elijah, Hayden, Gabriel, Lillianna, Simeon, Micah, Safiya, Luka, Roman, and Demitri; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, two grandmothers, two grandfathers, five uncles and two aunts.
