Miss Elaine Cooper, daughter of the late Henry Cooper Jr. and mother, Freddie L. Cooper, was born July 4, 1952. She was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 13, 2023.
Elaine was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and graduated from Olympic High School. She received a Nursing Degree from Central Piedmont Community College as well as an Early Childhood Education Degree from Central Piedmont Community College. She continued her education and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Montreat College, Montreat, North Carolina.
Elaine was a faithful, loyal, and dedicated lifetime member of Moore's Sanctuary A. M. E. Zion Church. She served as a Class Leader, member of the Board of Stewards, President of the Voices of Joy, a Life Member of the Women's Home & Overseas Missionary Society, member of the Lay Council and Spiritual Links.
Elaine was a "people person" with a deep love for her family. Her love of people reached beyond her family and church through her spiritual ministry as Comedian – "Sista Sugar Pluggia" (Laugh Yourself to Life).
Elaine enjoyed a career in the business and educational industries. She was employed by The Vanguard Group, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary, and most recently at Aon PLC as Benefits Specialist.
Elaine was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She took great delight in sharing stories of how she witnessed to her co-workers and how she used her spiritual wisdom to navigate through situations/experiences in the workplace. One of her favorite sayings was "God is……." Leaving it to your imagination to think about the sovereignty of God.
Before her declining health, Elaine supported all the ministries of "The Sanctuary". Whenever there were ministry meetings, events, or afternoon programs, you could count on Elaine and her sisters, Shirley, and Doretha to be in attendance. Amazingly, in her final days, she continued to participate in Sunday School, Bible Study, and Intercessory Prayer via conference call.
We can imagine Elaine must have been greeted by Jesus in the early morning hours of February 13th: "Her Lord said to her, Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter the joy of your Lord." (Matthew 25:23)
Elaine leaves to cherish her loving memories her sisters, Ms. Shirley McCullough, Ms. Doretha Cooper Davis; brother, Robert Cooper (Ernestine); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
