Elizabeth George was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife who passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 93. She was born in Liberty, South Carolina, to the late William and Elvira Alexander. The Alexander family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in the 1940's and made Charlotte the family home.
Elizabeth attended Carver College in Charlotte. She married Lorenzo A. George of Citra, Florida on November 6, 1951, and they were married for 56 years at the time of his death in 2007.
Baptist by religion and Christian by faith, Elizabeth was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, for over 75 years - often donning a stylish hat to Sunday Service. She created a habit of reading God's Word daily - reading the full counsel of Scripture, Genesis through Revelation, more than 10 times. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board and enjoyed attending church trips.
Elizabeth enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, whether it be a holiday gathering or a family reunion. She had a passion for cooking and always prepared delicious southern styled dishes for her family. Whenever family visited, they always made sure to stop by and visit with her because they knew that there would always be a table full of delicious food with several pound cakes and baked desserts.
Elizabeth was loved and adored by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grand-dogs and her entire family. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Alexander George; son, Baby Lorenzo A. George, Jr.; daughter, Sandra L. George; sisters Agnes Berry, Bertha Downer, and Maggie Evans; brothers, Dennis, Alfred, Ernest, David Lanford and Joel Alexander; and sister-in-law Edythe G. Martin. She is survived by two daughters, Delilah Donaldson and Gloria George; granddaughter, Cori D. Honore (Alcide); grandsons, George Tanner and Jonathan Alexander Butler; great-grandchildren, A.J., Adyn, Ace and Axel Honore; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
