Mrs. Elizabeth Imes Jordan was born January 17, 1937 in Iredell County to the late Irvin Imes and Katie Summers Imes. She departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on May 4, 2015. She was married to the late John T. Jordan. In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by seven brothers, Fred Imes, Eugene Imes, James Imes, Thomas Imes, Sr., Robert Imes, Elder John Imes and Joe Louis Imes; and three sisters, Frances Summers, Ella Mae Gaston and Mary Helen Smith. Elizabeth "Liz" attended Iredell County Schools. She later completed certifications at Central Piedmont Community College and was employed for over 25 years and retired with the Methodist Home Nursing Center. Elizabeth was a member of Grace Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir. Elizabeth loved her family dearly. She loved to read, knit, and spend a lot of time lovingly caring for her ailing family members until her health began to decline. Her memories shall forever be cherished by her son, Navy Davis, Jr.; two daughters, Donna Dunn (Arthur) and Gloria Davis Spencer, all of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Grace Imes (Bernice) of Salisbury, NC and Leon Imes (Mary) of Woodleaf, NC; four grand-children, Deidra Dunn, Ashawnda Dunn McDuffie, A.J. Dunn and Jeremy Spencer; three great-grandchildren, Brya McDuffie, B.J. McDuffie and Amani McDuffie; one god-grandchild, Layla Williams; one step-son, Willie Fred Jordan of Charlotte; three step-daughters, Carrie Montgomery (Clarence) of New Mexico, Evelyn Jordan and Brenda Riley, both of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Jordan will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 12 noon at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Statesville, NC. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
