Mrs. Ellie Neal Grier, daughter of the late Roosevelt Neal, Sr. and the late Grace Miller Neal, was born on November 13, 1942. She departed this earthly  life on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the home of her son, Rodney Grier, and daughter-in-law, Tracey Grier, by her bedside, in Johns Creek, Georgia.

Ellie Grier received her education from Sterling High School. She furthered her education by obtaining a license practical nursing(LPN) degree from Central Piedmont Community college. She had a successful nursing career for over thirty years. Ellie cared for the sick in many local hospitals, including Mercy, Memorial, and Presbyterian. Because of her love for helping others with their medical needs, she also spent many years performing private nursing duties for numerous patients.

She was united in holy matrimony to Herman Grier on March 13, 1963. They were blessed with one child, Rodney Grier. They were married for 57 years.

Ellie enjoyed making ceramic figurines, thrifting, and walking in the park. During her earlier years, she and her husband, alongside good friends, enjoyed traveling to the beach, the mountains, the casino, and the Bahamas. She had her sister Josephine Mitchell, often spent hours going to attic and garage sales and visiting flea markets.

"Lil Bit", as she was affectionately called, was strong-willed and resilient throughout her entire life. She was an independent thinker and the family historian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Grier; sisters, Ruthie Mae Curbeam and Josephine Mitchell; and brothers, Roosevelt Neal, Jr., and Robert Louis Neal.

Ellie leaves many beautiful memories to her son Rodney(Tracey) Grier of Johns Creek, Georgia; five grandchildren, Travis(Kia) Neal, Ryale Grier, Daquez Crawford, Deszerae Crawford, and Raquel Grier; five great-grandchildre; two sisters LaFredda (Isaac) Wallace of Charlotte, North Carolina, Paulette (Kenneth) Reid of White Plains, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephes, and other relatives, and friends.
