Elvia Jean Crenshaw 76 of Charlotte NC, passed away on July 16, 2019. She was born to the late Alex and Lucille Summers on May 13, 194 3 in Freeny, Mississippi.
Elvia known to the family as Jean received her early education in the F ree ny Public School system and later moved to Toledo, Ohio were she attended High School, before completing college in Nyack, New York.
She later married the love of her life , the late Benjamin James Crenshaw and relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina. She was philanthropist and a supporter of local schools and the community.
She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church , where her love for mission work developed , and as a result sh e bec a me a member of the S heepfold of Dorcas and other committees within the church .
Despite her health challenges , famil y and people were her delight. Jean loved to spend time with her family. S he w as well traveled and loved pretty things. She had a love for flowers, avid sports fan and cheered as if , she w as a player on the team. Jean was the light to every room she entered. She was joy to her family and others that had the privilege to know her. Elvia was i mmensely proud of her family and leaves behind a legacy and nothing but , beautiful memories !
Jean had two siblings to precede her in death, (sister) Grace Helen Mann , Carthage, MS a nd (brother) Tommy Summers, Toledo, Ohio. She survived by four siblings, (brother) Elgie Summers Toledo, OH, (sister) Bettie Shaw He nderson, (David ) Madison, MS, (sister) Francis Sue Howze Las Vegas , NV ; (Sister) Patricia Summers, Detroit , MI .
She is survived by three daughters ; Cynthia Summers Torns , Baton Rouge, LA ; Audra Crenshaw Charlotte, NC and Chauncie Crenshaw, Greensb oro NC .
Jean had five grandchildren . She was loved and forever will be by host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
