Emetrise, known to everyone as MeMe, attended Bain & Idlewild Elementary, where she started playing the violin. She continued in the Orchestra throughout school where she attended McClintock Middle and East Mecklenburg High School. While in high school she worked the after school program at Crown Point Elementary, where her love of children grew. MeMe always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She was accepted at Fayetteville State University and studied Early Childhood Education.

Growing up MeMe was a member of East Charlotte Community Church & New Covenant Family Church where she sang in the choir & danced. As a student at Fayetteville State University, she became a very active member of Christ Cathedral, where Apostle J.V. & Pastor Nora Y. Porter are the pastors. Having attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church the last several years, she always said that Christ Cathedral was her home church.

MeMe was a gleaner under the Amaranth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Stars from 1996 to 1999.

MeMe loved her family. All of her nieces and nephews were the apple of her eye. She was the middle child, the mediator, the peace maker, the "let's just all get along" girl. So full of love, MeMe never met a stranger. She had the kindest heart, with the loveliest soul, and everyone that met MeMe, loved MeMe.

She leaves to cherish her parents Joseph & Sandra Davis, her grandmother Dorothy Funderburke, her siblings Chianti, Joseph (Kenya), Timothy (Shuntorius), Jalisa (Neill), Breanna (Charles), Wesley; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and a host of many other relatives and friends.
