Emma Louise Ehart, affectionately known as "Sista," was born on June 4, 1919 to Walter and Fannie Aery. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at White Oak Manor in Charlotte. As a young lady, she moved to Bronx, New York where she obtained gainful employment, met and married Thomas Ehart and lived the life she wanted to live. Later in life, she and Thomas returned to Charlotte where she became the owner and operator for a home for retired veterans, established by her sister Martha "Rita" Barber Bunch. Sista was a very stylish woman. "She put the "f in fur." She loved beautiful clothing, jewelry, furnishings, dainty ornaments, and the like. She knew how to manage her resources, so if she wanted it, she got it. She was a great role model for her niece, Fannie Louise (who preceded her in death) and their shared passion for traveling and shopping took them many places. Sista had a quiet knowledge of Christ; one she alone internalized. Philippians 1:23 "I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." Mrs. Ehart was preceded in death by her husband. Thomas "Uncle Tommy" Ehart, and her adopted son, Thomas "Lil' Tommy" Myers. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Julia W. Vance; one brother-in-law, Conway Buford, Sr.; great-niece, Valerie Fahmy (Josef, Skye) of Charlotte; and one sister-in-law, Louise Aery Smith of Detroit, Michigan; two great-nephews, Willis Harrison (Sandra) and Rodney Harrison (Diane); niece-in-law, Brenzion Hamson (Christopher) and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Ehart will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grier Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens in Huntersville, NC.
