The Hoff, Gbarbea, and Knuckles family are saddened to announce the death of Emma Advertine Louise Hoff-Gbarbea. Emma was born to the union of the late Reverend Dr. Advertus A. Hoff Sr. and Mrs. Emma L. Knuckles-Hoff on November 27, 1968 in Monrovia, Liberia. On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, God´s mighty warrior was called home from the battlefield. In her lifetime, she touched the lives of many people far and wide. She had a smile that would light up any room, and a personality that walked into the room long before she did. She was a wonderful daughter, loving sister, and amazing mother that was completely selfless in all aspects. Though she is not here physically, we know that she is at peace and enjoying paradise.

Emma is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Dr. Advertus A. Hoff Sr., grandmother, Rose Garnett- Vincent, grandfather Gabriel E. Knuckles Sr., and sister Jartu Monger (Herbert-deceased). She leaves to mourn her mother, Mrs. Emma L. Knuckles-Hoff; ex-husband: Kwenah Gbarbea; children: Tommy, Kwenette, and Emmett; brothers: Advertus A. Hoff Jr. (Earlene), Ronald D. Hoff Sr. (Denise), Gabriel P. Hoff Sr. (Dawn), and Bombo B. Hoff Sr. (Nana); sisters: Hawa Garbla (Arthur), Dawn C. Hoff, Nancy M. Hoff-Trapp (Karl); special sister-like friends: Maria Camacho-Quinn and Leanna Davis; aunts: Mercy Vincent-Wah (Emmanuel) and Rose Knuckles-Bull; uncles: Benoni Knuckles and William S. Hoff Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, God-children, and friends.

Thursday June 1, 2017 at Grier Funeral Home located at 115 John McCarroll Ave, Charlotte, NC 28216 from 7pm-9pm.

Funeral Service

June 2, 2017 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located 232 Skyland Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205. Visitation/Viewing will be from 12pm-1pm with the funeral services to follow.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden.
